What is Hyal-Flex™?
Vesta’s Hyal-Flex, which is sodium hyaluronate (HA or Hyaluronic Acid), is produced by advanced fermentation technology and purification processes. These processes are used to obtain a 99% or greater purity of Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid plays an important role for both mechanical and transport properties in the body. For example, HA gives elasticity to joints and vertebrate disks.*
HA is also a key constituent in the vitreous body of the eye. In a less direct efficacy HA assists in the regulation of biological functions through association with major intercellular components such as collagen, fibronectin, and elastin.*

Hyaluronic Acid is a key component in synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints.* One of the most important roles played by sodium hyaluronate in the synovial fluid is to increase viscosity and reduce friction between articular surfaces. Fibroblastic synoviocytes synthesize sodium hyaluronate which it then releases into the synovial fluid.
Hyal-Flex™ Cosmetic Grade
Hyal-Flex™ cosmetic grade is produced from streptococcus zooepidemicus, which is a non-hemolytic bacterial strain. Cosmetic-grade Hyal-Flex™ is free of contaminants such as glycosaminoglycans and proteins of animal origin. Vesta Ingredients’ bacterial fermentation yields an HA product that has both high molecular weight and high purity. The high molecular weight of the cosmetic-grade Hyal-Flex™ allows sustained moisturizing affects by forming a ciscoelastic film that protects the skin. Hyal-Flex™ has no hemolytic activity.
